Greek Bake and Taste...

Joining the blog 'Ferns at the Balcony' in Greece for a Greek baking event, I chose to make Tyropitakia with feta cheese...

Go to her lovely blog for this recipe and more (click on 'Ferns at the Balcony' above).

I quickly whipped a batch of these as some friends were dropping in and they came out tasting so good with a nice glass of wine...the only change to the recipe being the use of butter instead of margarine and I couldn't find my sesame seeds so went with poppy seeds!

On the tray before the cooking!

  3. Looks delish ~ AGAIN! ~ Ivan! I haven't bought margarine in at least two decades. When I was a kid in Canada the dairy lobbyists passed a law that required margarine manufacturers to package their margarine white with a bubble of food coloring. One of my chores was to burst the coloring bubble and work it into the margarine until it was evenly yellow! I hated that chore! I'm strictly butter now ~ sometimes cut with canola oil. I hope you are having a super day in France. And I joined your friend's Greek site. Thanks for recommending it!

  6. Hi Ivan! Thank you so much for joining the event! I'm really glad you made and appreciate tyropitakia! They look sooo neat! Much better looking than mine! I agree that they must have been a wonderful snack along with a glass of wine!I'm also making them when I have friends over the last minute! Last time I made them, I used half the margarine and replaced the rest with olove oil- perfect!

PS. And you're not late! There are two more days to go 'til the deadline!

  15. I just found your blog and was looking at your post and stopped – un Pont L’Evêque! Yum! I miss the French cheeses. When I visit my cousin in France she goes to the market and buy at least 8 fromages so her plateau de fromages will have a nice assortment - I wish I could go there more often. I looked at some of your creations – all look so delicious!

  20. Ivan, these look amazing! I'm sure it would take me all morning to "whip" these up! I'm a slow baker . . . I check & re-check every time I bake. I'm more of a cook than a baker! I would love to give these a try for a get together! I'll bet they were delicious.

I'm very sorry about your friend, I will keep him, his family and you in my thoughts and prayers my friend.

Share a glass of wine with friends in the evening and let the memories flow . . . and the laughter and smiles . . . and all that warms your heart. This will take time. Don't rush yourself. HUGS!
